NL Biometric Access Control
At a very basic level, access control is a means of controlling who enters a location and when. Access control systems are the electronic systems that are designed to control through a network and they should have an access to a network. Access Control System recognizes authenticates and authorizes entry of a person to enter into the premise thereby giving complete protection ensuring security with the system.
Example of an access control system : A door may be unlocked with a swipe card, an RFID system or by the technology of bio metric system.
Mechanical keys are the simplest form of physical access control and the method many smaller organisations use. Even for a small company, however, using mechanical keys has several flaws and limitations – especially as an organisation gets bigger. Below are just some of the problems presented by using keys.
People lose keys
If someone loses a key, you need to replace the lock to make sure the lost key can’t be misused. You then need to distribute new keys to everyone who needs access to that door.
People lose keys
You can’t see if and when someone’s used a key, so you don’t know who’s entered or at what time.
Keys are difficult to manage
If someone needs to enter many different buildings and rooms, they’ll need a large number of keys, which are inconvenient to carry and use. It can be difficult to remember which key is for which door, but it’s too much of a security risk to label them.
1. Ensure Proper Identification
Unlike proximity cards or PIN numbers, a person’s biometric features cannot be transferred, meaning the approved user must be physically present at the point of identification in order to gain access.
2. Audit Trail
Because biometrics provide more accuracy when identifying a user, a system administrator will easily be able to connect a user to a specific action. This audit trail is helpful in the event of an actual security event or security breach.
3. User Friendly
Once a biometrics system is installed and the applicable staff have been trained, it is very reliable and easy to maintain. To ensure proper functionality, it is important that the biometric devices are kept clean. Additionally, the system is user-friendly because there are no passwords to remember or access cards to keep track of.
4. Security
The biggest advantage of biometrics is the increased security for your building. A user’s physical characteristics are much more secure that an access card or password, which creates a safer facility. Additionally, today’s biometric access control systems are very advanced, and can offer you a scalable solution that can grow with the ever-changing needs of your business.
